How to have your business support your lifestyle

at anchorDoes your business support your lifestyle…or are you giving up your life to be in business?

I hear lots of people who have a plan to retire early and then have the life they want – travel, time for family etc.  And to do that they are willing to sacrifice the present moment.  But to give up your freedom (or your sanity) while growing your business is a mistake. I make sure to carve out time daily for my other passions, my home and lifestyle block of land and sailing. For you that may mean taking chunks of time off for traveling or being with family.

The present moment is the only moment that we have in which to create the life (now and in the future) we want.

What we do and how we be in the present moment is what we are creating.  If you know me you know that 10 years ago I chose to have the life I wanted now, in the present moment.  I live it every day.  I do work I love – in fact increasingly I only do the work I am genius at and farm out the rest.

The trick is to decide what you want your life to be like, what qualities you want as well as things and results. And then to behave today as if that were your life.  You will be amazed at the changes that begin to happen when you take this approach.

“The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself but creating yourself anew.   Seek therefore not to discover who you are but seek to determine who you want to be”.  Neale Donald Walsh

does-your-business-support-your-lifestyleMy first teacher taught me that the words give it away every time.  The word is behave.  Be  – Have.   You first must be the kind of person that has what you want, do the actions that that person would do and then you will begin to see those results appearing and you will have want you want.

Choose today to set up your business so that you're life will be as you want it.

Do you have a template for your week?  And what about for your year? At work are you focused on the activities that will bring in the revenue and gain you more customers?  If No? Then my coaching request is simple: Start creating a template for how you want each day of the week to look. While you may not always get everything done that you want each day, if your work time is spent focused on work tasks, you'll end each day feeling more complete and happy. It's letting your time be at the mercy of others that will make you feel stressed and guilty!

A couple of other quotes caught my attention this week:

“The Future has several names: For the weak, it is impossible.  For the fainthearted, it is the unknown.  For the thoughtful and valiant, it is IDEAL" – Victor Hugo

“Your calling is where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet." — Frederich Buechner

“Imagination is a preview of life’s coming attractions.”  ~ Einstein

…………But if you use your imagination to ‘worry’ you are previewing events you simply do not want to happen.

And finally this week!

I love it when what I say, believe in and work towards with my clients and my network is endorsed by what famous people say at conferences!

If you know me, you have heard me say that my purpose as a business coach is to help business owners create fulfilling workplaces.    Here is Raj Sisodia speaking at the Conscious Capitalism Conference in April of this year saying exactly the same thing.  Thank you Tim Marshall for bringing this to my attention.

Just in case you have not heard of it here is a description of conscious capitalism.

“Conscious Capitalism is a way of thinking about capitalism and business that better reflects where we are in the human journey, the state of our world today, and the innate potential of business to make a positive impact on the world. Conscious businesses are galvanized by higher purposes that serve, align, and integrate the interests of all their major stakeholders.

Conscious businesses will help evolve our world so that billions of people can flourish, leading lives infused with passion, purpose, love and creativity; a world of freedom, harmony, prosperity and compassion.”

Are you creating a conscious business?   If you’d like to find out more how to do it call me.  I’d be happy to have a conversation with you about it.  There would be nothing to pay!  My gift.

Wishing you success in business and in life,

Bridget
